Abstract:In order to understand and apply the concept of “yarn body” correctly，the changes of the definition of yarn body in Uster Quantum 2 to Uster Quantum 3 are introduced，the understanding of different definitions of yarn body，as well as the definition and classification of the frequent yarn defects and the accident yarn defects are expounded.A new definition of yarn defects is given by actual yarn body diagram，that is，the internal yarn defects based on the yarn body and along the yarn body are the frequent yarn defects，and the external yarn defects are the accident yarn defects.It is pointed out that the definition of yarn body of Uster is changing and developing.The frequent yarn defects is defined as the defect of length not greater than fiber length and cross section of -60%～+100%，while accident yarn defects is defined as the defect of length greater than fiber length and cross section of +100%.The new definition of yarn body does not affect the yarn fault classification of Uster， but only weakens the importance of fiber length.Technical personnel of textile enterprises should understand and master the definition of yarn body and yarn defects，and judge the frequent yarn defects and accident yarn defects more accurately through continuous application and exploration，so as to continuously improve the quality of production.
